What to expect at your first lash appointment

From the consultation to the mirror, here is what actually happens during a full set in Wilmington.

Your first set of extensions is easy, but it helps to know what is coming. Here is how the visit goes at the Delaware SMP studio.

Before you arrive

  • Come with clean eyes. Skip mascara and eye makeup that day.
  • Take out contacts if they bother you when your eyes are closed for a long time.
  • Have a light snack and use the restroom before you lie down.
  • Tell Kelsey about any eye sensitivity, allergies or recent eye procedures.

The consultation

You will talk about the look you want and how you live day to day. Kelsey checks your eye shape and natural lashes, then plans the map. This is the time to show photos you like.

The application

You lie back with your eyes closed the whole time. Your lower lashes are taped down so they stay out of the way. Then the extensions go on one by one. It does not hurt. Most people relax, listen to music or fall asleep.

Afterward

Keep them dry for the first day so the bond fully sets. After that, rinse them a few times a week with a lash safe cleanser and brush them with a clean spoolie. Avoid oil based makeup remover around your eyes.

Book your first fill for two to three weeks out before you leave. It keeps your set looking full and saves you from starting over.
